Success Story of Jameel Obaid – Conflict Preparedness and Protection Trainer in Rafah, Gaza Strip
Living in Gaza, we are no strangers to danger. The constant threats require us to be prepared for anything. This is where conflict preparedness and protection comes in, and it has become an essential part of my life since.
Through the training I received, I became the safety valve for my family and the community. I was responsible for overseeing any evacuation processes and raising awareness about conflict preparedness and crisis management. This training was not just about learning protocols but also about ensuring the safety and well-being of those around me.
One particular experience stands out. During the training, when the danger to us in Khan Yunis, Hamad Town, escalated, my family and I had to evacuate. We were prepared. I had taken all the necessary safety measures: we packed an emergency bag, had an evacuation plan in place, and each family member had uploaded electronic copies of important documents. We also wrote down identification details for the children.
When the time came to evacuate, everyone knew what to do. The calmness and effectiveness of each family member were remarkable. This preparation and training made a significant difference. We were able to leave the danger zone without any mistakes or regrets, unlike past experiences.
This experience taught me the importance of crisis management and how being prepared can save lives. The training transformed me into a reliable source of safety for my family and community, and I am grateful for the knowledge and skills I acquired.
