REFORM implemented a learning journey over 3 days, entitled: "The extent to which public policies are responsive to Palestinian youths' needs," using Facilitating Reform Methodology.
The beneficiary, Moamen Saleem, said: “The training provided by REFORM on the Social Transformation Methodology provided me with the ability to analyse issues instead of receiving and dealing with them in a rigid manner. Thus, the training helped me build an in-depth understanding of the surrounding issues related to our local community along with ways to promote the values of good governance in our public institutions."
The participant, Alice Samir, indicated the importance of social transformation training, stating: “At some point, we must move from theory to fieldwork and the practical application of our ideas until we discover the extent of the training's benefit and the extent to which it can be applied on the ground so that we are able to address and influence our society." She continued: "We now have a greater understanding of the concept of transparency and good governance in public institutions, and we have the tools that help us do our part. As for the greatest success that we have achieved, it is that we, as a youth group, were able to create a common space to work on political and social issues, through the qualitative training we received from participating in the project."
This session comes as part of the “United in Diversity III” project, implemented by the Palestinian Association for Empowerment and Local Development–REFORM, in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid. This project aims to promote young men and women's participation in decision-making processes through monitoring plans and policies of organizations and holding local organizations accountable at the level of public policies that increase youth's participation in public life.
