Success Story of Wala Abd Al-Bari – Conflict Preparedness and Protection Trainer in Rafah, Gaza Strip
Even a simple ray of light can guide many, and the educational sessions on war remnants have done just that, illuminating the path to safety for countless individuals.
The "Palestine Emergency Early Response" (PEER) project became a beacon of hope for me amidst the war, genocide, and immense loss we have faced. It carried profound significance for children, women, and men alike, enhancing their awareness of safe zones and appropriate actions when encountering war remnants, emergency protocols, and more amidst relentless bombings and displacement.
In the overwhelming darkness of the Gaza Strip—where daily life is shattered by destruction, bombardment, and continuous displacement—survival becomes a gamble. The occupier's unyielding assault leaves no avenue or weapon unused in their mission to kill. If starvation, bombings, or lack of medical treatment don't claim our lives, the remnants of war certainly will.
This is where our intervention made a difference. Despite the challenges of unstable internet connections, we received comprehensive training via Zoom, driven by an unwavering desire to gain and share critical knowledge with our community. Our goal was to reduce human losses, especially among children, who often mistake these deadly remnants for toys. These innocent discoveries rob them of their lives and dreams.
From the heart of displacement tents, we strove to spread awareness in an engaging and effective manner. We aimed to offer a future to individuals before it was too late, discussing and strategizing tirelessly to ensure a safer tomorrow for our community.
