Distribution of Medical Supplies as part of the Ahel Campaign in the Hebron Governorate
The Palestinian Association for Empowerment and Local Development—REFORM distributed medical supplies, such as masks, gloves and sterilizers, as part of the Ahel Campaign, which is implemented in accordance with national efforts to combat the consequences of the Coronavirus on the social and economic levels, to maximize the developmental role of the Association and to enhance its interventions that respond to the needs of the Palestinian public in light of the COVID-19 crisis. These supplies were distributed to the local committees located in the most affected areas in the Hebron Governorate, including: Al-Arroub camp, Al-Fawwar camp, Halhul, Beit Kahil, Tarqumiya, and Idhna. This comes in response to the local committees’ need for health supplies in the affected areas.
Financing for this initiative was made possible by the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), a flexible and rapid financing tool supporting quality interventions to enhance the capacity of women in Palestine and around the world working to prevent conflict, respond to crises and seize key peacebuilding opportunities. With technical support from UN Women Palestine, this project comes in light of the challenges that women encounter, particularly in Area C and H2 areas of the Hebron Governorate.
The project coordinator, Shireen Al-Hajal, indicated that the Association based the selection of the areas benefiting from the campaign on the spread of COVID-19, that is, by focusing on the affected areas in cities and camps in the Hebron Governorate. The supplies were distributed with the participation of representatives of the local bodies of the women’s clubs affiliated with the Rural Women’s Development Society.
ABOUT the project

This project aims to increase women’s participation in decision-making processes and enhance the role of both women and men in building safe societies responsive to the needs of women.
The Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) mobilizes critical financial support for local and grassroots civil-society organizations working on women, peace and security and humanitarian action. Since its launch in 2016, WPHF has funded over 140 civil-society organizations in 12 countries supporting women on the front lines to be a force for crisis response and lasting peace.
