Ramallah - 13th March 2023 - The Palestinian Association for Empowerment and Local Development—REFORM, represented by Ms. Carmen Kishek, a Member of its Board of Directors, and Al-Quds Open University, represented by Prof. Samir Al-Najdi, its president signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at implementing joint programmes that contribute to reducing gender-based violence.

On behalf of REFORM, the signing of the agreement was attended by its Administrative Officer, Mrs. Rawan Sharqawi, its Legal Advisor, Mr. Sameer Qirresh, and its Project Coordinator, Mrs. Esraa Obaid. On behalf of the University, the Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Iyad Shtayyeh, Head of the Student Activities Department, Mr. Baha Ibrahim, and the Student Activities Coordinator, Ms. Randa Barakat, also attended.

Prof. Samir Al-Najdi welcomed this cooperation, which comes within the framework of the University's developmental role and serves students and alumni’s interests.  He added: "The University seeks to build bridges through creative partnerships with the country's organisations to support its students, promote safety, development and creativity in the Palestinian society and actively empower women to participate in decision-making positions in the future.

In turn, Ms. Carmen Kishek, a Member of REFORM’s Board of Directors, confirmed the University’s role in building a Palestinian society based on knowledge. She also stressed the importance of this integration in contributing to the consolidation of the values of participation and individual and collective rights in the Palestinian society and the preservation of the freedom of everyone in it to participate and pluralism.

Based on the MoU, the means of cooperation between the two parties will be strengthened in a way that serves and contributes to achieving the common strategic goals of each of them. This will be achieved in a way that reflects the spirit of cooperation and guarantees the independence of each of them in terms of their vision, mission, goals and strategic goals between them, enhancing cooperation between them on the basis of common interest and agreed goals.
