The Innovation Hub discusses the importance of economically and socially empowering different society components
The Palestinian Association for Empowerment and Local Development – REFORM discussed the importance of economically and socially empowering different components of society and promoting social cohesion among them; based on the social and cultural values presented in Ghada Al – Samman’s book The Loaf is beating like a Heart. This session was attended by a number of youth and social activists, and comes as part of the Innovation Hub monthly cultural path.
The session started by reviewing some quotes from the book which focuses on the misery that marginalized groups suffered from due to the poverty and the lack of recourses and developmental projects. The book compares between these vulnerable groups and others who lived in vital regions in terms of their access to employment and developmental opportunities.
The participants addressed the importance of creating strong civilized society that accepts differences through empowering different society components at all social and cultural spheres, promoting social cohesion and combating discrimination among them. Participants also asserted the need to provide all components of Palestinian society with equal access to all opportunities.
The Poet, Anwar Al Zeben, Head of the Union of Arab Writers and Intellectuals in Palestine, stated that the Palestinians are partners in morals and humanitarian principles, and that we all should accept our differences and work together to ensure and the concepts of democracy and good citizenship within our society.
This training come as part of the Innovation Hub – Sociocultural Platform which seeks to contribute to bridging the gaps between the various community components on both social and economic levels; providing a safe and interactive platform to enable all members of different groups of society to participate in decision making processes, especially youth and women; and to improve their living conditions by developing untraditional production patterns, enhancing cooperation and partnership between targets groups, and increasing social responsibility of the private sector.
